Types of landscape drainage

There are many types of landscape drainage systems, but the three most common are surface drainage, subsurface drainage, and induced drainage. Surface drainage is the most common type of Landscape Drainage because it's cheap and easy to install. Subsurface drainage is expensive but allows you to control water flow better. Induced drainage is the most expensive type of landscape drainage, but it can be very effective if used correctly.

How to go about getting a landscape drainage service?

One of the easiest ways to get drainage in your landscape is to have a professional company come and do it for you. However, if this is not an option for you, there are a few things that you can do on your own.

The first step is to identify where the water is entering your landscape. Check vacant lots, along drainage ditches, or any other possible water sources. Once you know where the water is coming from, start by digging a small trench around the source. This will help catch any water before it enters your plants and soil.

Once the trench is dug, fill it with gravel or rocks and tamp down firmly. Make sure the surface of the trench is level and smooth before continuing.

Next, install a layer of landscape fabric over the top of the trench. This will help keep debris from falling into the trench and clogging it up.

Finally, pour a layer of asphalt or concrete over the fabric and rocks. This will help prevent moisture from entering your plants and soil again.
